Final Look

This is the look we're going for, at least with a first lighting test and what textures we have so far. What do you think? We're pretty exciteeeeeeeeeeeeed! :D

Week #5

Yes, we were very busy during week 3 and 4, just pumping out models, setting up scenes, referencing and all that initial stuff that needs to get done so that the work flow is smooth, but finally, at week 5 we're on the roll, and everything is coming together pretty fast!

Not only most of the textures are done, but we have initial lighting pinned down, and the animation is 2/3 done!
We have finally contacted composers and sound designers and as soon as we give them a 3D animatic with the finalized timing, they can start working on the score, and sound effects.

We have five more weeks to go, but it's just gonna be even better than the last five, cause we are more than psyched about it. As the producer/texture/lighting artist it gives me endless joy when I show new textures or a lit scene and hear the rest of the crew swoon and squee in joy! It's VERY rewarding! You should try it some time!

Anywhoooooo, time to go back to pumping out some renders and get ready for our midterm presentation in about 2.5 hours!

Toodles!

Environment

The shoe store came to be just as easy as the rest of the concept. I'm happy to say we either click very well together, or we tend to agree more than to disagree! :) The Environment process can be seen below, with a changing point where we decided we love the hobbit house look and we want some round corners to make the place feel more cozy!

Characters

Chris Fennell (whom we're gonna call 2DChris) started working on the characters with the guidance of Jen. Lots of research and discussion was done around what each characters attitude was going to be like. I always like to think that deep down we all keep our animal-like instincts and can each have some similar characteristics to them at times (In the most innocent fun way possible!). So our main character, Giuseppe, was developed while looking at birds, specifically the borrower bird. And here are some of the sketches on his process.

Next was our 'Sexy Lady' who is the 2nd character we'll see in the animation, and is sort of the starting point for the uprising arch of the story. What we tried to consider was again how in nature the more shiny and colorful birds are the male ones, and the females are more plain and simple. So if our hero thinks a sexy elegant lady is the right type for him, he might just be wrong! Binaca's character process can be seen below.

And last, but surely not the least, is our main lady, Teresa. Simple and round, but perfect! We tried to make her have a heart shaped figure, and pushed the design as far as it could go!

And finally, after all the correctiong to them all were made, and we were all sufficiently happy with them (in the short span of time we had dedicated to the design), here are the three characters, with their first colors!

The Story

Here's where you will get to see the many stages of our story's development, from rough storyboards to the animatic. Many many tissues were used while making these, since poor 2DChris had the case of severe allergies, and as the producer, I decided not to care, cause damn  it we had deadlines! :P

Week #2

Tuesday, April 3rd, 9:48 am

The blog has been updated with the characters, environment, and story. We're still having fun, although we're all feeling the pressure of such a big fast paced project. A 10 week quarter could not have ever been scarier than it is right now (and I'm saying that just being in the 2nd week!)
The Crew is awesome, make sure to check them out. They have been taking my almost brutal scheduling well so far, and hope they know it's just gonna get worse! :) (Remember, cookies for all on Wednesday meetings!)

Next stop, Modeling!

The Beginning

On March 27th 2012, Jen Cram pitched her idea in class on the fine line between the 2D and 3D projects, claiming that it could work either way! It was so great that it won me (Sunny) over completely, so much so that when it came to voting for the favorite project, I didn't even vote for my own idea! lol It also ended up being a favorite of the 4 other members of our team!

So, by the end of the class, groups were formed and titles were distributed and we were ready to start working on a story that circled around shoes, and perhaps an innocent form of foot fetish!
